POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs responsible work in the preparation of the organization's payroll, including computing and disbursement of wages and salary and maintaining records of pay entitlements and other withholdings. As well as administer and oversee employee leave balances

Perform other duties in alignment with the COTA Strategic Plan and in support of the organization's vision to Move Every Life Forward.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Administers all facets, aspects and elements of the organization's payroll system to ensure that payroll is in compliance with all tax laws, rules and regulations;
  • Interprets various provisions within the collective bargaining contract and applies such provisions to the processing of payroll;
  • Communicates regularly with employees and vendors;
  • Processes changes to employee's records;
  • Provides training, assistance and guidance to employees in the use of the payroll and/or timekeeping systems.
  • Processes tax liability payments for Federal, State and local agencies, payments to the retirement system, and all other payroll deduction payments;
  • Prepares W2 and related withholding reconciliation forms;
  • Researches and maintains familiarity with payroll processing systems and changes in wage and tax laws, labor contracts, employee benefits and policy rules and regulations relating to payroll; reviews all new laws, contract and/or policy changes relating to payroll; initiates changes to payroll system and timekeeping systems based on applicable rules and regulations;
  • Researches and resolves employee inquiries and vendor and system problems related to payroll administration;
  • Fulfills information requests related to payroll;

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Requires an Associate's Degree in accounting and three (3) years of experience in Payroll; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in business or public administration.
