Your Impact

The QA Test Lead, State Delivery owns the end-to-end test strategy and execution for state implementations and releases. This role leads test planning, orchestrates system/integration/end-to-end testing, ensures automation testing capacity is planned and executing, and partners directly with client stakeholders to build and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The QA Test Lead drives quality gates, defect management, test reporting, and go-live readiness to ensure releases are stable, compliant, and production-ready.

We welcome candidates from all backgrounds. If you meet most of the qualifications below, we encourage you to apply, even if you don’t meet every single one.

What You’ll Do

  • Create and maintain a comprehensive Test Plan covering scope, objectives, assumptions/risks, approach, milestones, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Define test coverage across functional and non-functional requirements; ensure traceability to requirements and release scope.
  • Establish and enforce quality gates (entry/exit criteria) for SIT, UAT, and production readiness, including clear “go/no-go” inputs.
  • Ensure automation testers are allocated appropriately per release/program phase; plan capacity against backlog, timelines, and risk areas.
  • Direct automation execution aligned to business rules and requirements, emphasizing repeatable regression coverage and release confidence.
  • Drive adoption and continuous improvement of automation frameworks and practices to improve coverage and reduce cycle time.
  • Own and execute end-to-end (E2E) and integration test planning, including workflows that span multiple systems, interfaces, and third parties.
  • Lead testing types commonly required in state delivery programs (as applicable): functional, regression, cross-browser, data verification/migration validation, and performance/load testing coordination.
  • Validate test environment stability and readiness prior to execution; coordinate environment issues and resets with engineering/DevOps as needed.
  • Partner with client stakeholders to build the UAT approach, including UAT scenarios/scripts, roles/responsibilities, schedules, and execution support.
  • Facilitate UAT working sessions, triage issues rapidly, and ensure defects are logged, prioritized, and routed to the right owners.
  • Provide clear guidance and materials to help client SMEs execute UAT effectively and consistently.
  • Own the defect lifecycle: logging, severity/priority alignment, triage leadership, verification of fixes, and closure criteria.
  • Provide regular test status reporting: execution progress, pass/fail trends, defect aging, risk areas, and readiness recommendations.
  • Define and track QA metrics (e.g., pass/fail rate, defect density, regression stability) and use them to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate daily with Product, Engineering, Integration, and Delivery to align quality goals with release scope and timelines.
  • Identify quality risks early, escalate with data, and drive mitigation plans (including additional testing cycles, automation expansion, or scope sequencing).

Requirements Qualifications

  • 5+ years in QA/testing with 2+ years in a lead role owning test planning and execution across multiple release cycles.
  • Demonstrated experience building test plans, managing test execution, and leading defect triage through resolution.
  • Hands-on experience coordinating automation testing and ensuring automation execution aligns to requirements/business rules.
  • Experience partnering with business/client stakeholders to plan and execute UAT.
  • Strong communication skills: ability to translate quality status into clear risks, options, and recommendations for leadership and clients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering software in government/state programs or high-compliance environments (public sector, regulated industries).
  • Experience with data migration validation and integration-heavy ecosystems (multiple external interfaces).
  • Familiarity with performance/load testing coordination and results interpretation.
