Your Impact
CHAMP is seeking a confident and highly motivated Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET II). In this role, you will work alongside our QA analysts in coordination with product, engineering and support teams. We approach testing with a “left-shifting” automation first mindset. Providing early feedback to our engineering team during development, while automating our regression suite prior to release. This individual should not be afraid to ask questions, fail fast, move quick and successfully embed themselves within the process from requirements analysis through to regression and release.
The ideal candidate should have strong problem solving and analytical skills, as well as a strong attention to detail. This candidate should consider themselves curious and interested in new tools and technology. We value a self-starter mentality and someone who wants to drive change and bring forth any new ideas to better our processes.
What You’ll Do
- Partner closely with engineering and product to provide continuous feedback, surface risks early, and ensure quality remains central to every decision.
- Build reusable, scalable end-to-end test suites spanning API, UI, and database validation, designed for reliability and long-term maintainability.
- Own test suite health by proactively identifying and eliminating flaky tests to maintain a stable and trustworthy automation foundation.
- Drive comprehensive test coverage across cross-browser, mobile, performance, and accessibility testing to ensure a consistent experience for all users.
- Analyze test results and deliver clear, actionable reports that communicate quality signals effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Maintain well-organized, up-to-date work tickets to keep priorities visible, the team aligned, and delivery on track.
- Continuously optimize existing test suites while keeping pace with new feature development, balancing speed, coverage, and quality at every release.
Requirement Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in an SDET, QA Automation, or software development role, with a strong foundation in quality engineering principles.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, or a comparable object-oriented programming language, with the ability to write clean, maintainable test code.
- Hands-on experience with Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, or a similar automation framework, with a solid understanding of when and how to apply each.
- Strong API testing skills, including the ability to validate contracts, test edge cases, and integrate API coverage into the broader test strategy.
- Proven end-to-end testing experience, with the ability to design and maintain reliable E2E suites across complex user workflows.
- Working knowledge of SQL, with the ability to query and validate data integrity at the database level.
- Experience analyzing error logs using CloudWatch or similar tools to diagnose failures and accelerate root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with mobile, cross-browser, accessibility, and performance testing, ensuring broad coverage across platforms, devices, and user needs.
- A demonstrated track record of success, backed by real-world examples of meaningful impact on quality, process, or team outcomes.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, able to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the bigger picture.
