Frontend Engineer

Location: Cleveland (Onsite – 4 days in office)

Your Impact

As a Frontend Engineer, you will work within an Agile team to build the user-facing experiences that powers CHAMP's platform. This is a highly collaborative role where you will contribute to feature development, translate product requirements into polished, responsive interfaces, and grow your expertise across our frontend stack. You will work alongside senior engineers and cross-functional partners — including product, design, and backend teams — learning from experienced teammates while making real contributions to software that replaces legacy government systems with modern, scalable web applications. What You’ll Do

Development Stack

  • Programming Languages: JavaScript, TypeScript
  • Frameworks: React, Redux, TanStack, Material UI (MUI), CSS/SCSS, React Hook Form
  • Tooling: NPM, Yarn, Lerna/Nx, Babel, RsBuild, GIT
  • Testing: Jest, Vitest, React Testing Library
  • Infrastructure: Docker, AWS, Terraform, GitHub Actions
  • Collaboration Tools: Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Slack, Figma

Responsibilities

  • Implement new features while continuously improving code quality, keeping scalability and maintainability in mind
  • Translate use cases, user stories, and UI mockups into functional features using responsive design patterns
  • Integrate and consume RESTful APIs and web services, including proper handling of loading and error states
  • Participate in code reviews, following and contributing to established coding standards
  • Create and maintain system and component documentation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with UX/UI designers, backend engineers, Product, and QA teams
  • Contribute to technical design discussions and learn from senior team members
  • Implement security best practices for sensitive government and financial data
  • Write comprehensive unit and integration tests

Requirement Qualifications

  • 3+ years designing, testing, and implementing React or comparable framework applications
  • Solid understanding of UI design patterns, principles, and best practices
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs and web services
  • Experience with frontend build tools and dependency management (NPM, Yarn, RsBuild, Lerna, or similar)
  • Experience writing automated tests (Vitest, React Testing Library, Jest, or similar)
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including UX/UI designers, backend developers, Product, and QA
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • TypeScript proficiency
  • JSDoc documentation practices
  • React Hook Form or similar form management libraries
  • Experience with government or regulatory system integrations
  • Knowledge of vehicle title and registration processes
  • Docker containerization experience
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing workflows
  • Experience with high-availability and fault-tolerant system design

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 annually. This is a good faith estimate, and final compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
