Position Summary:

Franklin University, a private, independent, accredited, not-for-profit University located in Columbus, Ohio invites applicants for its Adjunct Faculty-MBA Foundations position. The Adjunct Faculty role includes primary responsibility for providing quality instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment with an emphasis placed on teaching, supporting and evaluating students. Assigned courses may be for face to face or online instruction.

More than ever, the ability to understand and be understood is critical for success in the corporate world. Communication is no longer limited by the narrow definitions of the past. Achieving a business leadership position today means being adept at oral and written communication, understanding communication from a strategic point of view, and knowing how to organize and present information to audiences of all sizes effectively. In this course, you will develop and refine these capabilities. What you gain from this course will be of value throughout your MBA program, as well as in the workplace.

This course will be offered in both online and face-to-face formats.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches courses in discipline
  • Maintains attendance records, determines and submits grades with established timeframes established by the University
  • Creates a welcoming, inclusive and productive learning environment
  • Supports the resolution of student issues related to course instruction
  • Provides feedback on what is working and what is not with the course
  • Participates in all department meetings and required training
  • Participates in personal professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Faculty

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A Doctoral degree and at least 18 graduate credit hours in Business Communications or a related academic subfield from a regionally accredited college or university
  • 8 years of experience in Business Communications or related academic subfield
  • 3 years of experience teaching Business Communications or related academic subfield in higher education
  • Commitment to collaborative & collegiate relationships
  • Maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Knowledge of higher education regulations, compliance and accrediting agencies
  • Computer proficiency
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and work effectively with faculty, staff, students and members of the professional community
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills and Characteristics:

  • DBA or Ph.D. in Business Communications or academic subfield
  • 10 years of senior-level work experience in Business Communications or related academic subfield and 3 years of successful teaching experience in the area of Business Communications
  • Display a breadth and depth of experience outside of the classroom in relevant, real-world Business Communications situations and provide enhancement of pedagogical skills in Business Communications through a record of research, scholarship, or achievement
  • Located in Columbus, OH or surrounding area
