Position Summary:

Franklin University, a private, independent, accredited, not-for-profit University located in Columbus, Ohio invites applicants for its Adjunct Faculty-Health Informatics Governance position. The Adjunct Faculty role includes primary responsibility for providing quality instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment with an emphasis placed on teaching, supporting and evaluating students. This course will be offered online with a requirement that the selected candidate come to our campus in downtown Columbus, Ohio for a 2 hour weekly class beginning with our Fall term.

This course covers the broad spectrum of strategic issues in healthcare including policies, guidelines, standards, processes, and controls required to manage and implement enterprise-level information. Treating information as a strategic asset to healthcare organizations, processes to manage various risks to the quality of information and ensure its appropriate use are covered.

An end-of-course stipend will be paid for teaching in-person.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches courses in discipline
  • Maintains attendance records, determines and submits grades with established timeframes established by the University
  • Creates a welcoming, inclusive and productive learning environment
  • Supports the resolution of student issues related to course instruction
  • Provides feedback on what is working and what is not with the course
  • Participates in all department meetings and required training
  • Participates in personal professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Faculty

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Conferred doctoral degree in a healthcare related field from a regionally accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Health Informatics/ Health Information Management

  • Minimum of 1 year teaching experience at the graduate level

  • Commitment to collaborative & collegiate relationships
  • Maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Knowledge of higher education regulations, compliance and accrediting agencies
  • Computer proficiency
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and work effectively with faculty, staff, students and members of the professional community
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills and Characteristics:

  • One to three years' experience teaching online at the graduate level
  • Credentials such as RHIA, CHDA, etc.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing enterprise-level information in a healthcare organization
