Position Summary:

Franklin University, a private, independent, accredited, not-for-profit University located in Columbus, Ohio invites applicants for its part-time (30 hours per week) Hall Monitor position at our London Correctional Institution location in London, Ohio. The Hall Monitor provides support and assistance to the Site Director, Advanced Job Training Coordinator, adjunct faculty, and students involved in the Franklin University prison education program located in College Hall at LoCI (London Correctional Institution).

This role will work an onsite schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pull keys from Control Center and has responsibility for unlocking and locking classrooms, cabinets, and office, as necessary
  • Lock all rooms and cabinets at the end of each shift
  • Answer general questions about the program
  • Assist potential students in signing up for the Franklin University waiting list
  • Assist the Site Director and Advanced Job Training Coordinator as needed.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Corrections background check

  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to follow directions

Additional Notes:

  • Hours will include evenings and weekends and may vary based on the needs of the program
  • Pre-employment checks include a background check performed by Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Corrections (ODRC); and if approved, approximately three hours of training by ODRC concerning their policies and procedures for working with offenders
  • Typical hours for this position will be Monday through Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and weekends but the expectation will be that this individual will fill in during the day when the other Hall Monitor is out of the office
