Overview

The Vice President of Sales will lead the strategic direction and execution of sales initiatives within the Financial Services and Insurance verticals. This leadership role is responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying market opportunities, cultivating key client relationships, and delivering innovative solutions tailored to industry-specific needs. Acting as an executive sponsor on high-impact deals, the VP will ensure alignment between client objectives and organizational capabilities.


This leader will serve as a vertical expert, leveraging deep industry knowledge to shape competitive strategies and influence product positioning. They will translate vision into actionable business plans, fostering cross-functional collaboration to achieve ambitious growth targets. Additionally, the VP will mentor and develop a high-performing sales team, enhancing skillsets and promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Define sales process to meet or exceed monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets. Oversee the continuous evaluation of sales strategies that effectively leverage the company’s established distribution channels, vertical expertise and product solutions
  • Drive strategic planning to meet or exceed forecasted revenue on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Provide leadership guidance to swiftly shift sales strategies as necessary to correct forecast variances to revenue targets
  • Drive emerging market opportunities and new go to market strategies. Formulate profitable go to market models to leverage opportunities
  • Provide vision to sales leadership team, who is primarily responsible for the continued evaluation and execution of sales strategies in an operationally sound environment with an emphasis on profitable growth, customer centricity, accountability and teamwork
  • Act as the leadership advocate for sales to ensure that the sales strategies are well communicated and supported internally. Continuously drives improvements in processes and practices to ensure vision is executed effectively within the organization through cross functional alignment with all departments
  • Oversee annual budget within assigned vertical to ensure alignment with company goals
  • Define and document enterprise licensing strategies by vertical market segment
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments to develop programs and strategies that maximizes revenue growth
  • Evaluate target customer and product needs for the company; analyze, create, and, present sales reports and forecasts to executive leadership and board
  • Oversee standardized pipeline assessment against target and action plans for underperforming teams
  • Provide vision and strategy for the implementation of new programs and products across sales organization
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to execute upon department vision and goals
  • Establish and refine sales management processes, including key performance indicators, account and territory planning; provides accurate and clear visibility to executive leadership team
  • Keeps current with emerging technology applications and business trends; identify best practices from these trends to implement within the department

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or significant related experience
  • Minimum of 15 years progressively responsible experience in Sales related functions with a B2B software company or SaaS preferred
  • Financial services or insurance vertical expertise required
  • Must possess exceptional leadership and communication skills as well as sound business judgment
  • Ability to rapidly execute and effectively lead several interdepartmental projects concurrently and with strong communication
  • Excellent communicator with proven ability to clearly convey complex ideas and data in written, presentation and spoken formats to a variety of audiences including executive management
  • Experience in hiring and building sales teams and developing strong sales acumen
  • Proven track record for meeting/exceeding sales objectives in a software development company
  • Exceptional understanding of the software industry within assigned markets
  • Successful history in negotiating and contracting with key customers and partners
  • Successful experience in structuring sales quotas, compensation plans, and incentive programs
  • Proven success in a very fast paced collaborative environment
  • Experience driving revenue relationships across a broad distribution channel
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties of the job
  • Based on individual states’ employment laws, the following details are to comply with the relevant salary posting requirements: base salary range of $230,000-$271,000 and eligible for variable compensation and benefits
