The Ohio Department of Transportation, District 10, is now accepting applications for Summer Laborers for the following counties: Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Vinton and Washington. These are seasonal temporary positions with an anticipated end date of September 4, 2026. There are multiple positions, your application will be considered for all positions.

2026 Summer Laborer (Multiple Counties)

What You Will Do:

  • Flag/traffic control for highway maintenance
  • Drive pickup truck to set out/pick up signs & follow mowing crew
  • Roadside litter pickup, clean &/or wash vehicles & equipment
  • Clean/hose down garage areas
  • Use weed eater to trim around buildings, fences, etc.
  • Help clean up roadsides when work crews are cutting brush/tree trimming
  • Answer phone &/or radio when clerk is unavailable

Qualifications

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division. In accordance with Section 124.11 (B)(2) of Revised Code, Director of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination.

Supplemental Information

This position is overtime eligible based FLSA Standards.

This position is unclassified per Section 124.11(A)(29).

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check.
