What You Will Do as a Cook 1:

• Preparing (e.g. cleaning, cutting, slicing, mixing & texturizing) and cooking (e.g. baking, boiling & grilling) food for the individuals residing at the facility according to prescribed diets.
• Operation of commercial kitchen equipment.
• Storage of food with attention to expiration dates.
• Cleaning work area, equipment & utensils.

This is an intermittent position - the hours of the dietary department are 8:00AM to 4:30PM M-F; however, there are no set days for this position. Intermittent appointments are limited to 1000 hours per fiscal year and are not eligible for health benefits or paid leave. The wage will remain at step 1 in the pay scale.

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division; 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in food preparation, sanitation & storage & use of food service equipment in institutional, school or restaurant setting.

The final candidate selected for the position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to the appointment to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment.

The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Rule 5123-2-02 “Background Investigations for Employment,” outlines disqualifying offenses that will preclude an applicant from being hired by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
