DYS is the juvenile corrections system for the state of Ohio. DYS is statutorily mandated to confine felony offenders, ages 10-21, who have been adjudicated and committed by one of Ohio's 88 county juvenile courts. During their stay with DYS, youth are engaged in programming that is designed to address their criminological and behavioral needs. DYS reaches thousands of youth in facilities and those on parole.

Job Description

About Us:

The Department of Youth Services provides stability, support, safety, and security for all employees of DYS. The Administrative Provessional 1 will provide valuable experience and knowledge to the Department of Youth Services workforce in the department of Education.

What You'll Do:

The Administrative Professional 1 (AP1) performs non-routine administrative tasks (i.e., independently formulates decisions &/or judgments involving non-legal interpretation of policies & procedures as they would apply to given situation to resolve problems, prepare correspondence &/or reports or to carry out other assignments); represents supervisor at meetings or conferences with other agencies:

  • Communicates decisions, directives &/or assignments to appropriate staff; represents division or agency on inter-divisional task forces or committees; reviews & summarizes reports on operations
  • Coordinates acquisition & maintenance of office machines such as telephones &/or copier &/or telecopier &/or computers &/or typing equipment).

Qualifications

1 yr. trg. or 1 yr. exp. in secretarial science or business office applications. For positions requiring technical terminology, applicants must also have 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in relevant technical terminology.
