Highway Technician 5 - District 12 Test Lab - Garfield Hts., Cuyahoga County - PN 20057082
What you will do:
The successful candidate will act as the aggregate materials coordinator of the District 12 Test Lab. S(he) will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance of the aggregate program, including but not limited to the following:
- Coordinate and conduct yearly lab inspections
- Coordinate aggregate sampling and testing to ensure federal and state requirements are met
- Maintain communication between all aggregate producers/suppliers in D12 regarding production, schedules, test results, sales reports, etc.
- Oversee quality assurance testing for aggregate samples and other various aggregate tests in the District 12 test lab and on construction projects
- Review and approve District 12 test results. Keep organized files of D12’s aggregate records.
- Assign aggregate quantities to construction projects
- Maintain communication with ODOT project engineers regarding material changes, producer/supplier issues, etc.

Qualifications
Successful completion of all Highway Technician level 1, 2, 3, & 4 courses (i.e., construction/field &/or lab track) & construction experience requirements per the current Highway Technician MOU between ODOT & OCSEA/AFSCME; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I, Aggregate Level 1, & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver’s license.
-Or completion of associate core program in construction technology or comparable core program; 18 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver’s license.
-Or completion of certification program from National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET); 24 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver’s license.
-Or 36 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver’s license.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one-year probationary period.
The selection process for this position will include a structured interview. Candidate responses to the interview questions will be scored and the selection will be made in accordance with the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.
If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract.
