What does a Food Service Worker do?
Cleans microwaves, refrigerators, ovens (e.g. washes & sanitizes with/appropriate solutions & chemicals)
Mops & sweep floor & empties trash
Operates dishwasher in a safe manner
Physically observes & records food & equipment temperature as prescribed in Nutrition Department procedures.
Prepares foods (e.g. cleans & prepares vegetable, fruits for cooking, makes sandwiches, salads, beverages, toast, grills, fries, foods; thermo heats foods etc.)
Orders food & supplies on a weekly basis per departmental procedure
Labels & dates all opened food & supplies
Ensures timely storage & utilization of food to ensure safety. (Puts away stock & food supplies, etc.)
Performs related duties (e.g. oversees & assist in service set up, gives staff & consumers direction on pouring beverages & proportioning food into serving bowls, fills bread baskets, finishes meat & salad set up, garnishes foods etc.) following daily menu
May transport or assist with the transportation of food stuffs and/or working materials (i.e. equipment, paper, plates etc.)

Qualifications
Formal education in reading & speaking common English vocabulary & formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction of whole numbers. In accordance with Section 124.11(B)(2) of Revised Code, Director of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination.

Monday - Friday, no weekends, no holidays
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposed to heat from kitchen; may be exposed to dangerous or hostile consumers, residents or youths; may work rotating days &/or weekends.
- Hourly wage will be paid at step 1, unless otherwise specified by collective bargaining agreement or rules outlined in the ORC/OAC.
- The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Rule 5123-2-02, “Background Investigations for Employment,” outlines disqualifying offenses that will preclude an applicant from being employed by the Department of Developmental Disabilities.
- The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to the appointment to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment.
