This role will support the Emerging Markets Retirement Solutions NIGO team.

The NIGO (Not In Good Order) Team’s main function is to resolve items that cannot be processed as submitted so they can be processed. In order to resolve these items, it involves reaching out to external partners to obtain the necessary information.

Some of the duties of the Specialist on this team will be

  • Represent the team in projects
  • Training Analyst associates
  • Represent the team in meetings with external and internal partners
  • Become a SME at various team tasks
  • Help create process and procedure documents

This will be a hybrid schedule with in office expectations each week. The ideal candidate will be in the greater Columbus Metro Area.

As a Specialist, you'll be accountable for all aspects of the operations of assigned customer plans. You will provide plan design and administration for qualified retirement plans funded by all types of investments, with investment direction provided by trustee(s) and/or plan participants.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as company representative and communicates with plan sponsors, their representatives and/or producer regarding the sale or administration of qualified retirement plans.

  • Completes periodic valuation, compliance testing, determines appropriate benefits amounts and preparing statements, information for invoices and participant loan documents.

  • Prepares all materials to propose, sell and establish new plans and set up appropriate records, including proposal illustrations, trust agreements, IRS determination reporting, employee communications and client administrative guide and establishes census and plan information on pension software system.

  • Maintains relationship with clients by working with producers, clients, accountants, attorneys in design and ongoing administration of plans, providing assistance to clients with governmental audits, preparing and conducting plan sponsor/participant meetings, providing expertise to sales personnel in design, development and presentation to prospective customers.

  • Provides expertise to achieve desired business objectives by providing guidance to other staff members on regulations or plan administration, serving on task force committees by analyzing any new legal changes and their impact on qualified retirement plans, participating in and/or leading project teams, evaluating and recommending changes in sales support materials, and proposal and administration forms and procedures.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Pensions Division Manager and does not have direct reports.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies or equivalent related work experience.

License/Certification/Designation: NASD Series 6 may be required; participation in professional development programs such as ASPA, CEBS, or NIPA is desirable.

Experience: Three years of pension design, administration or related financial services experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Detailed knowledge of qualified retirement plan concepts. Understanding plan documents, reconciliation of plan assets and thorough knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and Department of Labor regulations. Comprehensive knowledge of investments including annuities, mutual funds, employer stock and partnerships, etc. and the financial marketplace. Working knowledge of pension reference material (i.e., CCH, Prentice Hall). Continuous develop in insurance funding contracts, procedures and governing language of contracts, including prospectuses and sales literature, laws and regulations related to qualified retirement plans, project management, and/or business environment. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to analyze and recommend solutions to business issues. Ability to explain governmental requirements and investment products. Ability to analyze the business needs of a customer or potential customer to develop and design the appropriate plan(s) to fit the needs and desires of their client(s).

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the Vice President and HR Vice President.
