As a Specialist, you'll be responsible for consulting on changes into the financial systems environment and providing impact analysis on those changes; primary domains include business rules (interfaces), reference data, reporting and allocations. We'll count on you to provide oversight of the finance data model to ensure accurate, credible and relevant data for our business partners. In addition, you'll have opportunities to participate in data quality initiatives to help ensure the accuracy of internally and externally reported financial information.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Finance business partners to analyze, design, implement, and operationalize solutions with an emphasis on ensuring the integrity of Nationwide's Financial data; collaborates with financial and business unit leadership on multi-functional projects, processes and systems that support strategic financial and corporate initiatives.

  • Assists in the development, planning and coordinating of complex financial projects.

  • Manages the financial data elements owned by Finance Data Governance. Supports data governance applications, researches industry practices for obtaining, recording and analyzing data; assists in ensuring compliance to standards.

  • Ensures changes to Finance data flows and elements owned by Finance Data Governance follow the established approval framework. Provides input into defining standards and enforcing these standards around Finance data architecture such as usage, storage, access and transparency.

  • Provides operational support for Finance back office processes, systems, and reports; maintains financial controls and provides audit support.

  • Performs data analysis and trending related to financial activity and related environmental statistics such as record counts, volumes, exceptions, etc. Identifies and determines root cause for data quality items impacting Finance.

  • Assists in design, development, maintenance and continuous improvement of business processes and procedures.

  • Assists business units and Nationwide Technology in documenting planning solutions, including business case development and road maps.

  • Communicates with a wide variety of audiences; exhibits presentation and facilitation skills. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with key business partners; assists in training for business partners and less experienced staff.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in business, accounting, mathematics, computer science, management information systems or a related field with comparable work experience preferred.

Experience: Six years of demonstrable experience in business consulting and analysis involving business process analysis and design, performance improvement, problem solving, planning, coordinating and organizing. Project management experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Accounting/finance background; process management; continuous improvement approach; project and consulting experience; understanding of SQL. Analytical and problem solving skills; comfortable learning & using new software and familiarity with common desktop tools; capable of performing in a production oriented environment, while meeting service level agreements; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; interpersonal skills and communication; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to understand and document complex data flows

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
