We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented New Business Sr. Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing new client specifications and preparing product documents in accordance with products, features, and provisions sold. You will also review existing plan documents and documentation for basic, non-complex new bundled customers to ensure they align with Nationwide’s capabilities and offerings.

The ideal candidate will be in Columbus Ohio and hold the SIE and Series 6 licenses.

As a Specialist, you'll provide support and guidance within New Business Review team by reviewing documentation, generating legal paperwork and ensuring good order throughout the new business legal document process.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews new client specifications and prepares product/platform legal documents in accordance with products, features and provisions sold.

  • Reviews existing plan documents and documentation for basic non-complex new bundled customers to resolve fit with Nationwide's capabilities and offerings.

  • Maps existing plan document provisions on basic, non-complex takeover bundled plans to Nationwide volume submitter plan document for review by lead.

  • Works with lead to identify non-standard product and plan requests. Works with lead, manager and Technical Services to determine if non-standard arrangements can be accepted.

  • Drafts volume submitter plan documents for start-up plan clients based on client objectives, and Nationwide default provisions.

  • Provides basic technical support and consultation with clients and advisory on plan document provisions and legal documents when needed.

  • Reviews signed Nationwide plan documents for good order and completeness when received back from the field.

  • Works with lead to identify compliance issues with qualified plans coming to Nationwide (bundled). Work with support teams to provide options to clients with such issues.

May performs other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to manager.

Typical Skills and Experiences:


Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, with a concentration in business, marketing, finance or related field or equivalent related work experience; Participation in professional development programs such as ASPPA, CEBS or NIPA is desirable.

License/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 6 license required. Associates must acquire the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to acquire required licenses/registrations within the designated time period, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Experience: Typically, three to five years in pension design, administration, record keeping or related financial services experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Basic knowledge of retirement plan funding platforms and ERISA retirement plan fundamentals. Basic to moderate level of knowledge of Nationwide volume submitter document and its provisions. General understanding of document changes implications on other plan provisions and the required operations of the plan. General familiarity with major competitor's prototype and volume submitter documents. Detailed understanding of Nationwide private sector retirement plan platform, products, capabilities, processes and policies within specific assigned service model(s). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively communicate technical and complex information into easily understood terms. Ability to comprehend complex regulatory provisions. Ability to interact effectively with company owners and advisory. Research and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong analytic skills. Skills required to review, research and recommend solutions to legal document issues encountered. Strong team building and collaboration skills as displayed within team and across business. Ability to set priorities and manage multiple demands.
