Job Description Summary

Our Internal Sales & Service (ISS) team works with financial professionals to provide the right Nationwide products to people who need and want them. We count on our team members to represent Nationwide well in this important market and have a real desire to connect and help our customers.

As an Associate Vice President, you’ll be a strategic leader who has direct accountability for the Service Contact Center, supporting multiple Nationwide Financial (NF) product lines. You’ll be responsible for the planning, strategy, direction and control of financial services products to provide effective and efficient service support to firms, investment professionals, agents and customers. You’ll have opportunities to actively participate in and communicate with channel, operations and systems executive management. It will be important to develop long term strategies for service center development and implementation, as it relates to the strategy and integration of company goals. In addition, you’ll establish and execute talent management, training, coaching, technology, operations, Lean management, sales/marketing, relationship management, customer advocacy/education, workforce management and leadership strategies.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determines the overall vision, strategy and day-to-day leadership of multiple solution centers.

  • Develops and executes strategic direction to ensure alignment and consistency across all solution center activities, implementation of best practices, analysis and recommendations of technology needs, operations efficiencies, maintaining high engagement and enhance customer/advisor experiences.

  • Develops and executes strategy to increase talent pipeline, retention, development and promotion of top talent.

  • Collaborates with executives across Nationwide to build/maintain relations. Participates in multiple executive leadership teams including Internal Sales & Service and other business segments (Product/Business Development, Marketing, Legal, etc.). Develops and maintains strong relationships with strategic partners (Sales, Operations, Compliance, Finance, Relationship Strategies, etc.).

  • Supports Nationwide's strategy by articulating the vision and influencing the need for change. Monitors industry and economic trends to anticipate change opportunities and ensure industry competitiveness. Leads and inspires highly engaged workforce through various changes due to regulatory, industry, customer/adviser preferences and/or business conditions, while aligning to the mission and purpose of the company.

  • Leads the execution of customer advocacy by educating customers to ensure satisfaction and retain business. Ensures right leadership is in place by evolving associates’ skills and readiness through ongoing coaching and developmental opportunities. Creates accountability through proper monitoring and clear measurement disciplines, ensuring customer expectations are met.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Vice President. Manages team of ISS professionals and has approximately 300 indirect reports.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate degree in a business-related discipline. Graduate studies in related areas highly desired.

License/Certification/Designation: Product-related technical insurance course work (CPCU, CPU, LOMA) preferred. FINRA Series 6,26, and 63 licenses required. Certified Business Coach designation highly desired.

Experience: Ten or more years of related experience managing large programs and strategies.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Develops business execution strategies across multiple organizational hierarchies based on business articulation of needs. Demonstrated ability to strategically lead business systems design. Proven history of effectively leading teams in complex planning, analysis and problem solving. Required skills include demonstrated knowledge of project management concepts and techniques, developing long range plans, understanding of customer business environment and strong leadership skills with the ability to work with technical and business teams including virtual teams. Proven ability to work with process and technology vendors in the delivery of project solutions.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Occasional travel. Non-standard or extended work may be required based on project needs.
