This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days per week on Mondays and Wednesdays.

We are looking to fill an individual contributor Test Automation Developer Lead role within the Technology Integration Platform Business Solution Area that will play a key leadership role on the Integration Governance Line that is responsible for governance reporting and creating accelerators and guardrails in the platforms to ensure that our data is shared and accessed in a secure manner. This role focuses on a blend of skills enabling efficient execution of risk-based testing, test automation, performance testing, test data management, test environment management, continuous integration and continuous deployment all improving speed to delivery for our business partners. This is an exciting area within Nationwide Technology that ensures that teams at Nationwide build, deploy, and maintain secure, available, and resilient integration solutions for Nationwide and Partner applications.

The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics & Experience:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced team environment

  • Experience developing software via Agile software development methodologies

  • Proven ability to document and share knowledge effectively

  • Ability to define and manage multiple test plans along with the reporting and metrics of the results

  • Ability to analyze and review requirements, user stories and technical work products to create automated tests that are needed

  • Plans for the proper mix of manual, automated, and exploratory testing methods using a risk-based approach

  • Uses the appropriate quality engineering tools to define test data management, test automation, security/vulnerability, performance, and regression testing

  • Manages defects including identifying, tracking, and providing critical thinking for resolution

  • Considers and drives the end users’ experience during the software development life cycle

  • Experience developing, testing, and maintaining Cypress or Ruby/Cucumber test automation

  • Experience testing developing and executing tests for Single Page Applications

  • Experience developing and executing REST API tests using tools such as Postman and Newman and validating test results match OAS/Swagger documents

  • Experience developing and executing tests for data assets and data pipelines

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.

  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

  • Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
