Join Us as a Marketing Consultant – Channel Leader (Brokerage & BGA)

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for collaboration and storytelling? We’re on the hunt for a Marketing Consultant who can lead the charge for our Brokerage and BGA (Brokerage General Agency) channels. This role is your opportunity to be the vital link between Sales, Product Marketing, and the broader Marketing team—driving strategies that resonate with financial professionals and bring our Life Story brand to life.

This hybrid position is based in Columbus, OH. Candidates will collaborate in office 2 days per week and enjoy the flexibility of remote work the remaining days. Current Nationwide Remote Associates will also be considered.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who can:

  • Lead with Vision: Serve as the marketing leader for the Brokerage/BGA channel, acting as the strategic connector between Sales and cross-functional Marketing teams.
  • Think Strategically: Craft and execute go-to-market strategies tailored to Brokerage, BGA, and CareMatters audiences.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with Product Marketing, Sales Enablement, EBSA, email, audience, and paid media teams to ensure aligned messaging and timely execution.
  • Manage Agency Partnerships: Guide agency partners in developing impactful marketing materials and tools for Sales teams.
  • Champion the Brand: Infuse the Life Story brand narrative into all channel marketing efforts to ensure a consistent and compelling experience.
  • Create with Purpose: Develop content that speaks directly to the Brokerage/BGA audience—emails, presentations, brochures, digital assets, and more.
  • Measure What Matters: Collaborate with analytics and sales teams to track campaign performance and make data-driven improvements.

What You’ll Do

As our Channel Leader, you’ll:

  • Be embedded within the Sales Leadership organization, acting as the primary liaison between Sales and Marketing.
  • Ensure that channel-specific messaging reaches the right audience, driving engagement and business growth.
  • Partner with internal teams and external agencies to bring marketing strategies to life through compelling campaigns and materials.
  • Align every touchpoint with our Life Story brand platform, creating a unified and memorable experience for financial professionals.
  • Monitor performance metrics and continuously refine strategies to maximize impact.

As a Consultant, you are responsible for leading and/or assisting the overall development and execution of marketing strategies using highly advanced marketing principles and standard methodologies. You will execute on future business or marketing needs driven by quantitative data/research, competitive insights and/or consumer behaviors. We'll count on you to ensure a strong focus on end-to-end customer experience, delivering outstanding customer experience overall.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development and execution of strategies and plans that ensure long term sustainable growth of the business. Synthesizes data and uses this understanding to support identification and innovation of business building solutions

  • Leads projects and processes within area of responsibility to deliver results with multiple target completion dates and shifting priorities.

  • Implements digital and traditional marketing tactics and media, including creative development process, planning, and execution.

  • Collaborates on and/or may lead creative development, and provides feedback on look and feel. Develops creative briefs.

  • Monitors emerging innovative trends in content, design and marketing tactics

  • Reviews and uses customer insights and analytics and tools to understand and forecast market, competitor and customer needs and behavior, define appropriate target audiences, evaluate sufficiency, and effectively get results with data-based decisions.

  • Ensures programs are on strategy and on schedule.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director/AVP. This is an individual contributor role and may have an opportunity to manage a team based on organizational structure; may also lead virtual/project teams.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or related field preferred. Master’s degree is a plus.

License/Certification/Designation: Technical financial services designations such as FINRA, CPCU, CLU, ChFC, FLMI considered a plus. Additional licensing may be required to hold this position; and associates will need to acquire the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to acquire required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Experience: Typically eight or more years related professional experience in marketing, strategy, consulting, financial services, or related field.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: In-depth knowledge of marketing methodologies, insurance and/or financial services products, distribution systems, and customers. Knowledge of project leadership concepts and methodologies. Possesses strong verbal and written skills needed to develop and review research studies, communicate research findings, market recommendations based on findings, and maintain relationships. Ability to lead and prioritize projects. Ability to function independently or in a team environment with limited supervision. Demonstrates core marketing proficiencies, including strategy development, utilization of insights and analytics, building brand equity and developing effective marketing communications. Skilled at customer focus, operating capabilities, personal effectiveness, and strategic capabilities.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Ability to work extended and/or non standard hours based on project load. Travel as required.
