This opening can be filled in one of our offices, or in a remote/work-from-home (WFH) capacity, as long as this person resides near a major airport. Travel is required – ranging between 1-2 weeks per month, 3 days each of those weeks.

This leader will be responsible for our Embedded and OEM portfolios. P&C insurance experience is required. Existing experience and familiarity withn Alternative Distribution and Insurtech, specifically with Telematics, APIs, and Digital Customer Experience is highly preferred.

As a people leader role, prior leadership experience is a plus, but not required for consideration. Insurance designations such as the ARM, CPCU, or CIC are also preferred.

Job Description Summary

Our desire is to be the industry’s leading carrier in digitally enabled & distributed personal lines products. The Alternative Direct Distribution team is dedicated to partnering with Personal Lines (PL) intermediaries (licensed PL agencies) who are committed to building out and/or creating both agent and customer experiences via embedded, digital, call center, and franchise operating models.

As Director, Relationship Management – Alternative Direct Distribution, you will develop deep, meaningful relationships with c-suite executives, PL practice leaders, and key influencers within our partner firms. You’ll develop and implement strategies that directly impact revenue, profit, and market share growth efforts across the multiple portfolios within Alternative Direct Distribution (ADD). In addition, you will be the owner of our prospect pipelining process which will be key to forecasting business development opportunities and developing sales expansion strategies.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for understanding current marketing and technology strategies of assigned firms within portfolio. Leads annual strategic planning sessions with firm and Alternative Direct Distribution leadership.

  • Cultivates, fosters, and manages executive level relationships with assigned firms. Conducts and leads annual strategic planning sessions with assigned firms.

  • Drives overall top and bottom-line performance with assigned firms. Motivates firm performance and ultimately manages assigned portfolio’s total cost of distribution to be commensurate with bottom-line performance.

  • Leads all aspects of prospect pipelining including rubric scoring, financial proforma development, and go-to-market approach, with support from the new appointment Business Development team. Conducts pipeline meetings with Alternative Direct Distribution leadership to discuss prospective opportunities for approval.

  • Gathers agent feedback to use in continuous improvement efforts. Collaborates with Product partners and other counterparts such as finance, marketing, and operations on problem-solving, educating, promoting, reviewing sales practices, and providing feedback on agent behavior.

  • Communicates market insights and observations to Alternative Direct Distribution leadership on opportunities for profitable growth. Consults with Product partners on strategic and tactical planning, measurement and monitoring of objectives, course corrections, and firm behavior management.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to AVP, Relationship Management – Alternative Direct Distribution. Multiple band F and G direct reports.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate degree in economics, business, risk management & insurance, marketing, or related fields preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: CPCU, ARM, or CIC professional designation or similar preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 8 years’ experience in insurance sales relationship management. Experience specifically in property and casualty operations is highly desirable. Previous people leadership, project-based leadership, and public speaking experience desired.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

Strong knowledge of PL digital technology resources & integration patterns. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to disseminate ADD vision & strategy and to motivate a large producer force. Action-oriented and demonstrated drive for results. Ability to develop meaningful relationships, possess strong problem-solving skills and ability to build unique solutions with cross-functional agile teams using design thinking methodologies. Executive level relationship management skills, business acuity, and political savvy. High level command skills, presentation skills, and managerial courage. Ability to motivate and advise others. Customer service oriented with organizational agility and interpersonal savvy. Ability to plan and set work priorities.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Travel required; candidate must live near a major U.S. airport. Most leaders work from a remote location such as an office in their home.
