Job Description Summary
This role is responsible for management of a portion of Nationwide’s $130bn assets. This includes the development of a global market view, investment strategy development and execution, and risk management. This person plays a key role across the investment enterprise driving alignment among constituents as it relates to overall investment strategy, asset allocation, and implementation within the constraints and objectives of the various client portfolios under their purview.Enterprise Portfolio Management (EPM) operates as part of a 200+ person investment operation managing approximately $130 billion including fixed income asset management, research, risk management, portfolio management, client advisory services and operations functions. Enterprise Portfolio Management is responsible for the development of investment strategy design and implementation across all client portfolios of Nationwide Investments and Nationwide Asset Management focusing on delivering superior results aligned with client objectives and constraints. The responsibilities include investment strategy design, asset allocation, execution, and risk management.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible and accountable for the execution of the global market view, investment strategy, asset allocation, portfolio construction, and risk management for a subset of the accounts managed by Nationwide Investments and or NWAM. Accountable for day-to-day operations, portfolio data quality control, and the development of new tools to aid in portfolio management. Support the Head of EPM in developing the organization’s overall market views and investment strategy, as well as collaborating, as appropriate, across the enterprise to ensure alignment and that the best thinking of Nationwide Investments is considered in overall portfolio constructions.
Recognized internally and externally as a senior leader on the floor, coordinating activities across the organization, mentoring junior associates, and engaging with clients as necessary.
Communicate and collaborate across the organization, both within investments and with Nationwide clients regarding market views, understanding of portfolio exposures and the development and implementation of investment strategies. Enterprise level activities include executive management engagement and education, sharing market views and communicating portfolio updates in various forums.
Evaluate long term macro trends and changes in the economic, regulatory, legislative, and competitive business environment that are likely to have an impact on investment recommendations and long-term portfolio strategy.
Conduct periodic market reviews including participation in a systematic analysis of sub-markets for alternative asset classes.
Be aware of and understand capital market issues and trends, such that analysis can be performed on a relative value basis. Support to the development of EPM’s cross market relative value thoughts and ideas (i.e., facilitate the generation of ideas across Investments).
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Head of Enterprise Portfolio Management
Typical Skills & Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate degree in business, investments or finance. An MBA and/or CFA is a plus.
Experience: 10-15 plus years of related experience in investments, with experience related to asset allocation, particularly across fixed income. Experience should include portfolio management, asset allocation, execution, and risk management. Experience developing market views and investment strategy. Experience managing large, complex, strategic accounts.

Flexible and adaptable to the multiple competing priorities throughout a work day
Familiarity with insurance related asset management including capital requirements, taxes, and accounting for insurance entities.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt)
Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Extended and/or not standard hours based on workload needs. International and domestic travel required.
