Consultant, Data Solution Analyst

This role will be filled in a hybrid capacity, with collaboration taking place in either our Columbus OH, Des Moines IA, or Scottsdale AZ office 2 days per week.
For the right candidate, this role could be fully remote.
As a Data Engineer, your expertise will be pivotal in Nationwide’s journey towards becoming a World Class Underwriting Company. Your ability to interpret and leverage data will provide the insights necessary for our business to drive innovation and excel in the underwriting field. Your role is not just about data, it’s about shaping the answers that enable us to lead the industry.
We’re seeking someone who:
Excels in Data Analysis and Profiling: Has a strong ability in source to target mappings and data profiling.
Governance & Quality: Enforce standards for data quality, lineage, and metadata management to ensure transparency and trust across stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with data scientists, actuaries, product owners, and platform teams to translate business requirements into technical deliverables.
Data Analysis and Modeling - Data profiling, Source to target Mapping, source to Target validations for data accuracy, Dashboarding capability awareness for showcasing Data accuracy
Possesses Strong Technical Skills: Demonstrates programming skills for creating reusable coding frameworks using environment variables, parameters, and metadata. Has experience resolving data issues in the data pipeline. Is proficient in SQL, Python and/or PySpark, and has experience using Databricks or Spark, and the AWS or Azure ecosystems.
Effectively Bridges the Gap: Communicates effectively with business stakeholders on requirements, data quality issues, and the utilization of data in the products produced by our team.
Demonstrates Curiosity and Partnership: Shows a strong curiosity to understand data and its implications. This curiosity is not limited to technical aspects but extends to an organic partnership with the business to develop a deeper understanding over time.
Exhibits Mentorship Excellence: Elevates team competency by imparting both technical acumen and insights to less experienced associates.
Adapts and Learns Continually: Continually learns new tools, technologies, and practices to maintain the usage of best practices in analytics.
Experience creating streaming data would be considered a plus.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Prompts reporting and analytic requirements from business and technology requestors to generate visualization or analysis.
Implements data requirements, reporting and practices for an assigned area.
Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Creates and executes visualization techniques.
Uses moderate visualization and analysis techniques to present findings of data exploration exercises to stakeholders based on requirements gleaned.
Maps the flow of data and the business processes and/or technical interfaces which would be created or impacted and recommends solutions/adaptations.
Collaborates with others to implement standardized data reporting, analytics, and visualization tools.
Recommends and leads change in data analytics, methodologies and tools.
Collaborates on profiling, mapping, and modeling tools.
Partners with others on projects requiring data visualization.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director Data Leader.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, a related field or comparable experience and education strongly preferred. Graduate studies in business, statistics, math, computer science or a related field are a plus.
License/Certification/Designation: Certifications are not required but encouraged.
Experience: Five to eight years of relevant experience with data management/ organization/ analytics or practices. Experience in engaging business leaders, data architects and external consultants to identify and fill gaps in analytics environment. Wide experience in using data modeling and data science tools. Experience with self-service analytic techniques. Experience in application of data acquisition and data wrangling. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Data application and practices knowledge. Solid oral and written communication skills. Ability to build relationships, facilitate meetings and influence others.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
