The Representative – New Business Support (Life) provides phone‑based assistance to agents regarding pending life insurance applications.
Responsibilities include researching application status across multiple systems, answering high‑volume inbound calls, and delivering clear, accurate updates and guidance. This role operates in a hybrid call‑center environment and supports the Life New Business workflow.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Strong customer service orientation with experience handling phone‑based inquiries.
Effective verbal communication and the ability to explain complex information clearly.
Ability to de‑escalate challenging situations and maintain professionalism.

Work Location & Schedule:
This role will be hired on a SuccessFlex basis and is a hybrid work role. The candidate identified must be within a 35-mile radius of the office location: 1000 Yard Street, Grandview Heights
Mandatory on‑site days: Tuesday and Wednesday each week
Associates may choose to work additional days onsite if desired
Start time between 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM and end time between 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM, depending on start time
This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Assists with the processing and customer service of new life insurance applications, including data entry, document verification, and agent calls.
Communicates with clients and agents to gather necessary information and resolve any application issues.
Maintains accurate records and update internal systems with application status and client information.
Collaborates with underwriters and other team members to ensure timely and accurate processing of applications.
Provides exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries and providing updates on application status.
Assists with administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and organizing documents.
Participates in training sessions and team huddles to stay updated on company policies and procedures.
Participate in team meetings and Lean continuous improvement initiatives.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, actuarial science, or a related field preferred.
Experience: 1-2 years’ experience in processing or customer service type work preferred.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
The product and system restrictions for when application details are missing or hard to read
Ability to de-escalate agent issues and handle accordingly
Ability to properly identify and sort complex firm/agent submitted completed application documents
Expertise in identifying unique agent/firm/payment relationship connections
Ability to use internally maintained systems and databases
Ability to identify correct external firm and internal sales partners

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resource Business Partner.
