Annuity Modernization (AM) is an exciting multi-year effort to ensure the future success of our Annuity business! Over the next few years, AM will launch select products on a new policy administration system to address key business and technology risks. This work will enable multiple strategic outcomes, such as maintaining a diversified product portfolio, investing in talent/culture, and delivering an optimized experience.

Role Overview

Our AM Training and UAT Lead will create and implement the end-to-end training strategy for users impacted by technology and process changes throughout Annuity Modernization and Legacy Strategy. This role will partner closely with stakeholder organizations (ALO, ISS, etc.) to design a cohesive training approach and will oversee training curriculum development, delivery, and maintenance as well as leadership of training resources. In addition, this leader will drive our UAT strategy and execution, partnering across BD&D, value streams, quality engineering (QE), and business stakeholders to ensure testing is well-coordinated and that UAT learnings are incorporated into training and readiness plans.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Lead execution of the training strategy and plan, ensuring appropriate training for all necessary stakeholder groups
  • Develop and maintain a holistic training approach, including formats, content creation processes, delivery platforms, and timing/sequencing aligned to key milestones and releases
  • Oversee development of training materials (curriculum, job aids, demos, etc.), leveraging partners where appropriate.
  • Establish clear learning objectives and success measures for each training offering
  • Coordinate training logistics, including scheduling, audience targeting, invitations, enrollment, environment access, and postsession followups
  • Plan for and execute our UAT strategy and plan, ensuring alignment to program timelines, quality objectives, and release scope
  • Partner with BD&D, valuestream leads/teams, QE teams, and business stakeholders to execute UAT with end users
  • Partner closely with Change Management & Communications to ensure training aligns with messaging, change impacts, and stakeholder readiness plans
  • Preferred experience includes:
    • Training (including non-traditional training), learning & development, business readiness, or change management
    • Large programs or transformations
    • UAT or business testing in partnership with technology
    • Working in or with cross-functional teams

This role will report to the Sr Consultant, Program & Change Enablement. This role will have people leadership duties, overseeing a team of Learning & Performance professionals.

This role does not qualify for employer sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.

It is our intention to fill this role in Columbus, OH. The hired associate must reside within 35 miles of One Nationwide Plaza, Columbus OH, 43215.

This position will be hired on a SuccessFlex basis. You will be required to come into the office three days per week, according to the department's current schedule.

You'll function across a company, region or discipline(s) of significant size or scope. We'll count on you to work with business leaders to identify performance gaps and create the Learning & Performance plan that supports business goals and strategies.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the delivery of learning initiatives. Sets priorities and ensures capacity, development effectiveness, coaching and feedback to sustain quality. Develops specifications, work plans, assignments and timelines aligned with performance management and operational needs of the business.

  • Performs long-range planning to ensure appropriate instructional technologies are in place to maximize training resources. May assist with delivery as needed.

  • Provides assistance and guidance in the design of evaluation tools and methodologies and ensures evaluation takes place. Creates metrics to assess effectiveness and impact on initiatives.

  • Assigns projects and ensures effectiveness of final product. Responsible for specific learning projects, programs or curriculum and ensures alignment with strategic vision and company goals. Designs and develops tools, models, programs and services to meet identified business needs.

  • Partners and consults with business leaders to analyze performance gaps and directs needs analysis to determine performance gap solutions consistent with business needs, learning department goals and corporate strategies.

  • Markets department resources and communicates programs and curriculum to potential customers. Determines programs, audience, timing and design/development of materials and marketing efforts based on department strategy.

  • Identifies and retains internal training resources, outside consultants and vendors to fulfill specific training objectives. Manages budget to ensure resources are available to meet learning plans.

  • Establishes Learning & Performance-related projects establishing timelines, goals and ensures team expectations (team member roles and contributions) are clearly communicated.

  • Manages associates, including performance, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow planning, hiring and placement and disciplinary actions.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director, Associate Vice President or Vice President. Leads a team of four or more Learning & Performance professionals.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate degree preferred, with emphasis in business, education, psychology or related subject area desired Advanced studies in instructional technology, management, organization development or the behavioral sciences leading to a master's or doctorate degree preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Professional certification, such as the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP), strongly preferred. In some business units, there may be additional regulatory requirements for specific certifications, e.g., FINRA series in Nationwide Financial or progress toward technical designation, such as CPCU or equivalent designation.

Associates must acquire all required federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to acquire required licenses/registrations within the designated time period, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.

Experience: Typically, eight or more years of demonstrated experience in learning and development, organizational development/effectiveness and in internal and external consulting. Strong instructional design, skill assessment, measurement methodology, needs assessment, change management and facilitation experience required.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of behavioral and organization development concepts. Must have broad technical expertise in analysis, design, development and implementation of learning solutions. Strong planning, organizing, leading and process management knowledge required. Able to present and articulate ideas and plans, and influence individuals or groups at all levels. Strong organizational savvy, relationship-building skills and consulting ability. Ability to set work priorities and effectively use resources to evaluate and apply problem solving methodology to make sound decisions. Strong leadership, team development and motivation skills required.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
