This Specialist, Technology Analyst role is part of Workplace Technology Support’s Operations and Information team. Our mission is to deliver exceptional support experiences while safeguarding Nationwide’s members—and we believe technology is a key enabler of that mission. In this role, you’ll partner with internal WTS teams to understand business and technical needs, translate them into actionable solutions, and ensure the successful delivery and support of IT tools and platforms. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across Nationwide to maintain and enhance systems like ServiceNow and Genesys Cloud, support testing efforts, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

This role requires strong ServiceNow development skills to support platform maintenance while expanding and enhancing ServiceNow capabilities, including the use of ServiceNow AI and other intelligent automation solutions. Experience working with CSM, Walk‑Up Experience, ServiceNow Portals, and AI‑enabled features is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with WTS and cross-functional technology teams to align solutions with business needs.
  • Support and maintain contact center platforms, including ServiceNow and its relationships to Genesys Cloud.
  • Participate in testing activities, including occasional after-hours testing, to ensure system reliability.
  • Maintain proactive communication with stakeholders to manage expectations and report progress.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes and tools.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to Nationwide’s business.
  • Evaluate and prioritize business requests, aligning delivery through enhancements or small projects.
  • Contribute to the development and support of technologies used by WTS.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, Genesys Cloud, and other contact center technologies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

This will be a hybrid role based out of the Columbus, OH (preferred) or Des Moines, IA location. The team comes in 2 days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.

  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

  • Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
