The Nationwide Financial/Office of the Chief Legal Officer (OCLO) Communications team is seeking a communications specialist with a mix of editorial and creative expertise and a proven ability to craft clear and engaging messaging to help clients’ reach their goals.
Qualified candidates will possess exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills; masterful writing, editing and proofreading abilities; and demonstrated storytelling experience. They will exhibit a proactive, collaborative approach with a strong attention to detail and the ability to add value through both delivering assigned tasks and actively identifying opportunities to add additional value for the team.
Essential Job Functions:
· Writing and editing digital associate communications (i.e. Digest and email communications, copy for InSide/SharePoint pages, presentations, etc.) to support NF and OCLO
· Managing NF and OCLO SharePoint sites (content and design)
· Developing NF and OCLO story ideas and stories for InSide editorial (intranet news), editing copy and coordinating ideas and content with the Inside editorial team
· Building and distributing email campaigns in ContactMonkey
· Regularly measuring and reporting results for various communications tactics and campaigns; producing quarterly NF communications scorecard
General Duties:
· Planning, developing and implementing communication projects for internal and external audiences
· Assisting in the development of strategic communication plans; writes, edits, designs and coordinates tactics to support the plan
· Handling all matters with discretion and maintaining confidentiality of all information
Qualified candidates should be comfortable managing simultaneous projects, adapting to evolving priorities and making recommendations to help solve problems.
This hybrid position is based in Columbus, OH. Candidates will collaborate in office 2-3 days per week. Current Nationwide Remote Associates may also be considered.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Designs, develops, produces and distributes communications for internal/external audiences.
Evaluates internal/external communication issues and makes recommendations to managers and project leaders on communication projects, opportunities and alternatives to ensure that the communication plans support the business unit and/or department critical initiatives and objectives.
Assists in the development of communication plans. Writes, edits and coordinates communications tactics, discussion guides, presentations, talking points, speeches, etc.
Develops PowerPoint support for presentations as needed. Presents reports, presentations and plans to management.
Plans, prepares and disseminates information concerning the company and/or business unit. Evaluates the impact and effectiveness of communication materials and programs and provides recommendations to management on new/revised programs.
Serves as a project leader for assigned communication projects as requested.
Performs need assessments and evaluate possible solutions/alternatives in order to develop and recommend new communication programs and strategies. May assist in the development and implementation of survey tools for opinion research.
Assists in training other Communications associates.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director or Associate Vice President. This is an individual contributor role.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in communications, journalism, advertising or related field; degree preferred.
Experience: Typically, five or more years of proven experience in a communication field, including developing content for impactful corporate communications programs.
Knowledge. Abilities and Skills: Proven knowledge in communication techniques and an understanding of advertising, public relations, and/or sales/ marketing communication concepts. Accountable for long-term communications projects, as well as quick turnaround assignments and comfortable working with large cross-functional teams toward a common goal. Have a strong sense of accountability in creating and executing communication tactics that are targeted and on time. Ability to influence, prepare and deliver verbal presentations and demonstrations translating complex policy and technical concepts to all types of audiences. Verbal and written communication skills necessary to help consult on communication plans and internal/external communications materials as part of a project team. Specific experience in a communications field (web, audio-visual, print, layout and design, etc.) may be more valuable in certain roles.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt)
Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Extended work hours may be necessary during periods of heavier volume of work. May need to be available to work in field locations to provide media support for catastrophic (CAT) situations.
