If you are a highly skilled business professional, who can develop and communicate financial information and forecasts, we want to hear from you!As VP & CFO for Retirement Solutions and Investment Management Group (IMG), you’ll lead a team that provides financial management to the businesses including timely, accurate, and actionable financial data, business and industry insights, pricing and underwriting leadership, and financial reporting and planning. In Retirement Solutions, you’ll have responsibility for the design and implementation of a comprehensive Request for Proposal (RPF) process that is a key driver of new business. You’ll partner and consult with business and matrix leadership on the development and execution of strategies that effectively position the businesses in extremely competitive industries. We’ll count on you to support product and pricing strategies focused on growth, profitability, and risk management. You’ll also be a member of the Retirement Solutions Leadership Team, the IMG Leadership Team and the Nationwide Financial (NF) Finance Council.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Serves as a key influence and participant in the development and execution of strategies that are designed to balance long-term growth, profitability, competitiveness, and risk management in the businesses. Develops analytics, recommendations, and portfolio solutions in support of product management, operational capabilities, and risk/return constraints. Responsible for gaining Product Risk Committee and NF Risk Committee approval when necessary.
Leads the businesses planning processes. Provides thought leadership, financial forecasting support, and key initiative reporting for the strategic plan. Develops the annual operating plan and supporting budgets (departmental, non-departmental, corporate allocation projections); and drives prioritization and funding of strategic and tactical initiatives based on the alignment with business plans and strategies.
Provides oversight and leadership to financial analytics and insights including financial modeling & analysis, acquisition/adoption analysis, product profitability and pricing, regulatory compliance and Board reporting, case retention and other ad-hoc requests, to ensure appropriate support of the management decision process.
Assesses and quantifies business risks and develops and implements risk management strategies in support of business tactics and goals. Monitors financial business performance against forecasts and assumptions; develops and assesses business opportunities to support business decisions for resource allocation and prioritization around product development and innovation efforts; Analyzes distribution channel and firm profitability.
Actively participates in and influences the product development processes and supports operational teams in the business decision process. Manages and maintains pricing models and recommendations and develops and validates all assumptions including expenses and customer behavior.
Develops and cultivates an engaging environment for Retirement Solutions and IMG Finance associates that supports both personal and professional development and growth. Works across NF Finance on talent training, talent acquisition and development.
Maintains and oversees the request for proposal process including review and sign off on significant RFP’s, client meetings and finalist presentations. In coordination with sales, develops case acquisition strategies as well as key case retention strategies.
Acts as the President of the Nationwide Trust Company.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to SVP, Chief Financial Officer – Nationwide Financial. Leads a team of 3 direct reports and 60 indirect reports.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or related field.
License/Certification/Designation: FSA, CPA or similar certifications required.
Experience: Typically, 15 or more years of functional experience and 10 or more years of people management and industry experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Leadership, influence, problem-solving, agility, collaboration, decision-making, strategic thinking, strong financial acumen, presentation, and communications skills.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
