The position

Root’s Information Security team is dedicated to managing information security risk within the organization, while enabling teams to deliver cutting-edge work, and we’re looking for an Identity and Access Management (IAM) Security Engineer to join us. In this role, you’ll be part of the IAM team at Root, helping to create, operate and manage IAM systems and processes that support authentication, authorization, and monitoring throughout the organization.

Salary Range: $87,000 - $130,000
How You Will Make an Impact

At least four years of experience in IAM engineering or similar role, with a
background in information security or risk.
Proficiency in common IAM protocols, standards, and technologies such as
SAML, OIDC, OAuth, and SCIM.
In-depth experience with Okta or similar cloud-based identity and SSO platforms
and solutions.
Significant experience with designing, implementing and supporting identity and
access management approaches such as attribute based access control (ABAC),
role-based access control (RBAC) and privileged access management (PAM).
Proficiency in identifying Information Security/IAM risks, communicating those
issues to the appropriate stakeholders, and working with distributed teams on
mitigations
Demonstrable experience balancing strategic improvement and
operational/maintenance work, and communicating value and tradeoffs for both
Proficiency in implementing IAM solution automation and workflows to reduce
operational overhead and risk
Familiarity with access related aspects of compliance requirements/frameworks
such as SOX, PCI, and NIST.

What You Will Need to Succeed

You will help build a secure and scalable identity platform that allows the IAM
function at Root to enable and support the organization.
You will be able to participate in reviews of IAM systems, processes, and
implementations, and be able to develop novel solutions to the identification and
mitigation of associated risks.
You will get to work with other IAM engineers and leaders to help shape
roadmaps and plans that improve Root’s IAM posture in meaningful ways.
You will help implement operational improvements via automation to securely
improve the user experience associated with IAM solutions
