The Opportunity

The Director, Business Development role would expose you to a wide variety of businesses, many partners within those businesses, and ever-changing business and technology challenges. We employ a solutions-led strategy and are seeking consultative business development executives, rather than transactional or sales-led business development professionals.

This role will join the team as part of several evolving industry verticals at WillowTree (Consumer, Health/Wellness, Travel/Hospitality, TMT, Entertainment/Media), focused on building partnerships and solutions for prospective clients. Specific focus areas will include both the expansion of WillowTree’s current footprint and entry into emerging sectors within each industry.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce WillowTree's business, proposition, people, and capabilities to new client prospects via calls/meetings
  • Consult with potential and existing clients to define digital strategy and digital product experiences and develop creative solutions -- help frame business/technical needs, project scope
  • Collaborate closely with Solutions Architects to propose appropriate team/resourcing plans for client briefs and develop pricing proposals
  • Leverage the talents of the UX Strategy and Design Team to ideate on behalf of clients, develop concepts to pitch, and develop pitch materials
  • Drive the overall process to combine technical plans and creative concepts into written proposals (RFP, etc) for submission and presentations for pitches
  • After a deal is finalized, you’ll work hand-in-hand with Project Management, Engineering, and Design leads to guide the overall product delivery and own the client relationship at the highest level
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients to expand partnerships, and extend WillowTree services on a client-by-client basis
  • Assist with developing strategies and plans for developing and deepening account
  • You must have the ability to travel up to 25% for client visits, pitches, and conferences

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of consulting experience in a digital or technology environment.
  • Experienced working with, and presenting to, C-level professionals of Fortune 500 companies
  • Deep understanding of mobile technology
  • Skilled problem solver and value driver for clients. Ability to move clients toward valuable recommendations and high-impact solutions
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering impactful presentations to executive and cross-disciplinary audiences
  • A deep sense of creativity -- oftentimes our clients are looking for inspiration and direction -- genuine enthusiasm/creativity in coming up with solutions for brands/clients

Bonus Points

  • A former or current management consultant with exposure to digital product/software development projects who have decided large consulting firms are not for them and want to see their ideas and work come to life
  • Management consulting experience in several industry verticals
  • Engineering or computer science degree and/or background
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration
