The Embedded Systems Engineer will work in all research and development activities related to vision and display systems, medical lighting and illumination, and Wireless connectivity. Additional areas of expertise of interest include power management, low power design, LED, and laser driver development.

The Embedded Systems Engineer is responsible for board-level design, including the schematic capture and PCB design. These activities include Process and microcontroller design, low-power design, and battery-powered design. Other activities will include FPGA design and development as part of an SOC. Microcontroller and microprocessor interfacing for lighting, image sensors, and display. A demonstrated breadth of skills is needed for success in this role, including FPGA, testing, prototyping, lasers, sensors, human interfaces, electronics, modeling, etc.

This engineer must be able to work effectively in a small, nimble team – engaging external technical resources as needed using clear communication and strong interpersonal skills. Success in this role requires attention to detail, good experimental setup and tracking, the ability to work independently with excellent judgment, and a demonstrated track record of data-driven decisions.
