Position Summary
This position will support Parallax’s Vigilant Spirit Laboratory by providing additional support to an already established helpdesk team that supports our fellow Parallaxians, provide support for existing technologies that require additional talent, not available in our current talent pool, to be able to take full advantage of all the benefits and for newer technologies being both requested by our customer base as well as what we, the IT Team, are looking to implement.
The Lead Systems Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for the Parallax Vigilant Spirit Laboratory operating systems, workstations, and servers. Under limited supervision, performs complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Evaluates, implements, and manages appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities. Plans and implements the modernization of servers. Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. This position will have supervisory responsibility, to include frequent meetings with the customer to ensure all projects are on track, supervising a Systems Administrator, conducting evaluations, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Percent of time spent in this function: 75%
  • Network hardware support
  • Updating and maintaining existing software and hardware
  • O365 Support
  • SharePoint Support
  • Existing 3rd party application support
Percent of time spent in this function: 25%
  • Research and develop both 3rd party and fully established apps (i.e., VMWare Vsphere, Microsoft Workstation and Server) to develop solutions to fulfill requests by both our fellow Parallaxians as well as our IT Team
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • US Citizenship required
  • Experience with installing, configuring, and testing Vigilant Spirit Control Station
  • Experience with installing and configuring Virtual Reality Scene Generator
  • Familiarity with user/group account management (passwords, usernames, permissions)
  • Knowledge of network access storage (shared drives)
  • Printer installation and sharing
  • Experience problem solving and troubleshooting IT issues
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Able to open support tickets with the IT Service Desk on behalf of users
  • Follow up on support tickets on behalf of users
  • Order equipment and provide cradle to grave support for users
  • Troubleshoot user issues, including but not limited to email, internet, hardware, and account issues
  • Needs to have a positive attitude and be able to multitask and a desire to learn
  • Good oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Ideal candidates will have some Level 1 IT experience
  • Ability to hold a SECRET Clearance, and be eligible to obtain TS/SCI Clearance
  • CompTIA Security+ credential or ability to obtain within 90-days of start
  • Experience with DoD STIGs
  • Experience with DoD ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution)
  • Experience with DoD HBSS and DoD Antivirus solutions
  • Experience with Windows Enterprise Domains and Server/Workstation Group Policy
  • 2-3 years of Office 365 administration (Exchange/SharePoint specifically)
  • 2+ years working with cloud environment (cloud GCC-High/azure)
  • Experience on back-end support for Vmware onsite Hosting Solutions

Minimal to light physical effort is generally required in performing duties in an office environment. This position requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position will require the applicant to routinely sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend for up to 8 hours. Position requires the occasional lifting of objects in excess of 25 lbs.
