Position Summary

The Parallax Advanced Research Mission is to deliver innovative research and provide technology, human and business solutions via The Science of Intelligent Teaming™ for government, industry and academic clients with critical challenges.
The Project Accountant encourages this mission by supporting direct and indirect project teams with credit card purchasing, t&e related trouble shooting, general ledger alignment, and proper budget allocation. Working with budget owners, the project finance team, and accounting, the Project Accountant will collaborate on purchasing standards and increase agility for organizational purchases.
The Project Accountant provides accounting and purchasing support for government contract projects as well as shared service departments. This role assists with Deltek Costpoint, credit card purchasing, transaction processing, Concur expensing, reconciliations, and project cost tracking, while supporting compliance with company and government requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Support corporate credit card purchasing, including transaction coding, receipts, and reconciliation.
  • Assist with purchase requests, approvals, and routine procurement activities.
  • Track project expenditures and support budget-to-actual reporting.
  • Serve as a support conduit between project finance and accounting, helping coordinate financial information, questions, and transaction-related needs.
  • Assist with invoice processing, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Maintain accurate financial and purchasing documentation.
  • Support project managers, accounting, procurement, and finance teams with routine financial needs.
  • Follow applicable government contracting and purchasing requirements.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • 1–3 years of accounting, finance, purchasing, or related experience.
  • Deltek Costpoint experience.
  • Government contracting or procurement experience.
  • Strong Excel, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Project Management Certification
  • Concur experience
